The Schwarz Foundation belongs to the patrons of the Opera Studio of the Bayrische Staatsoper.

The Bayerische Staatsoper’s Opera Studio prepares highly talented young singers practice-oriented for an international career. After completing the multi-stage selection process, the chosen talents then go on to support the Bayerische Staatsoper’s ensemble for a full two years. They are integrated directly into the opera business and take on small to medium-sized roles in our productions. They also enjoy an accompanying support programme, consisting of singing and role studies, acting lessons and selected master courses, among other elements. The highpoint of the opera year is a new staging produced especially for the Opera Studio, which all singers take part in and which celebrates a premiere in the Cuvilliés Theatre in late spring. The Opera Studio was founded as it is today in the 2006/2007 season and is artistically managed by Tobias Truniger. Along with ten singers, it also includes two pianists, who also undergo an application process and are supported as part of the programme. Under General Manager Serge Dorny’s guidance, this young talent promotion also plays an important role in the work of the Bayerische Staatsoper.
