Curtis on Tour, die weltweite Tournee-Initiative von Nina von Maltzahn des Curtis Institute of Music, kehrt nach Athen zurück, wo Curtis-Studenten, Dozenten und Alumni seit 2015 jährlich auftreten. Vier einzigartige Konzerte in der Cotsen Hall, dem Auditorium der American School of Classical Studies in Athen, werden von der Schwarz Foundation und der Gennadius Library der ASCSA unter der Schirmherrschaft der US-Botschaft in Griechenland präsentiert.
Seit mehr als 10 Jahren begeistern die Künstler und Ensembles von Curtis on Tour ihr Publikum rund um den Globus mit Aufführungen, die "von Anfang bis Ende berauschend" sind (The Washington Post). "Das Curtis Institute of Music, eine der besten Musikhochschulen der Welt" (BBC Culture), verbindet Tradition und Innovation und bildet außergewöhnlich begabte junge Musiker zu Künstlern und Persönlichkeiten aus, die sich durch ihr Musizieren auf höchstem Niveau für eine lokale und globale Gemeinschaft engagieren. Auf der Grundlage der "Learning by doing"-Philosophie der Schule treten auf den Tourneen neben gefeierten Absolventen auch außergewöhnliche Nachwuchskünstler auf.
Das Konzertfestival in der Gennadius-Bibliothek umfasst vier fesselnde Abende - von einem reizvollen Opern- und Gesangskonzert bis hin zu kammermusikalischen Favoriten wie Brahms' mitreißendem Klavierquartett in g-Moll. Ein Höhepunkt des diesjährigen Festivals ist ein neues Auftragswerk von Richard Danielpour mit dem Titel Canti della Natura (Lieder der Natur). Diese faszinierenden neuen Stücke vertonen Sonette aus der Feder von Antonio Vivaldi, die zur Begleitung seiner eigenen Le quattro stagioni (Vier Jahreszeiten) geschrieben wurden. Alle vier Konzerte in der Cotsen Hall werden live übertragen.
Die Tournee ging im Oktober weiter nach Berlin (Konzerthaus Berlin), Vercelli (Salone Dugentesco), Alicante (Auditori Teulada Moraira) und Madrid (Fundación Juan March).

- The Gennadius Library of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens is a leading research center for the study of the culture and civilization of Greece. With more than 145.000 rare books, archives, manuscripts, and research materials, the collections shed light on all periods of Greek history. Through public lectures, seminars, symposia, exhibitions, and publications, the Library aims to reach a broader public in order to highlight the importance of Greek culture in the formation of western civilization. - Curtis on Tour is the Nina von Maltzahn global touring initiative of the Curtis Institute of Music. Grounded in the school’s “learn by doing” philosophy, tours feature extraordinary emerging artists alongside celebrated alumni and faculty. In addition to performances, musicians offer master classes, educational programs, and community engagement activities while on tour. Curtis on Tour also manages solo engagements for Curtis artists with professional orchestras and presenters. Since the program was established in 2008, Curtis on Tour ensembles have performed more than 375 concerts in over 100 cities in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
