Kostas Vomvolos has composed theatre music for over 180 plays, working with state, municipal and fringe theatre companiesin Greece, the U.K., and Ireland (National Theatre of Greece, National Theatre of Northern Greece, Piramatiki Skini Technis, the municipal theatres of Patras, Kalamata, Serres, Kavala, Kozani, Actors Touring Company). His scores include ones for Greek tragedies, musicals, and contemporary operas. He has also composed the music soundtracks for 3 feature and 15 documentary films.
In 1994, he founded the group Primavera en Salonico, which performed with Savina Yannatou in major world-music and jazz festivals all over the world (about 200 concerts). He created the arrangements for ten albums by the group.
He has arranged and produced several releases of Greek traditional, rebetiko, and entechno music; he was a member of Heimerinoi Kolymvites band. He collaborated with jazz, traditional, and avant-garde music artists in France, Austria, Spain, and Belgium.
He teaches at the Department of Drama, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He also gave seminars at Berkeley (CA), Albuquerque (NM), Dublin, Berlin, Adelaide (AUS), and Buenos Aires.
