Yunus Tuncali

Born in 1992, Yunus Tuncalı is one of Turkey’s emerging pianists, praised for his chamber music skills.

He took part at Musica Mundi (Brussels), Pablo Casals (Prades), and ECMA (Oslo) chamber music festivals. In 2016, he was invited to join the contemporary music group Tempus Konnex for their concert tour in China.

Yunus Tuncalı has performed with major orchestras in Turkey, including Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic, İstanbul State Symphony, İzmir State Symphony, Bilkent Symphony, and Ankara’s Presidential Symphony Orchestra.

His education started at Bilkent University School of Music and Performing Arts, with Sevinç Keser, Emre Şen, Stiliana Stavreva, and Ersin Onay. He received the 1stPrize at the 3rdAnatolian University Piano Competition in Eskişehir.

In 2010, he became a scholar of Young Musicians on World Stages, a project by Güher & Süher Pekinel, sponsored by Tüpraş, and subsequently began his studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, graduating from the class of Aleksandar Madžar in 2012. He received further instruction from Oxana Jablonskaya, Frank Wibaut, Rudolf Buchbinder, Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, Alexei Lubimov, Dirk Mommertz, Johannes Meissl, and Diana Boteva.

Yunus Tuncalı is currently studying with Mi-Joo Lee at Berlin University of the Arts.
