Veriko Tchumburidze

Born in Adana, Turkey, in 1996, she began her education at Mersin University State Conservatory, with Selahattin Yunkuş and Lili Tchumburidze. In 2010, she continued her studies with Dora Schwarzberg at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna as scholar of Young Musicians on World Stages. At the Musikhochschule München, which she began at the age of 19, she is a student of Ana Chumachenco. She has attended masterclasses by Igor Ozim, Albert Markov and Shlomo Mintz.
In 2004, she won the Gülden Turalı National Violin Competition and in 2006 the Georgian National Competition. In 2012, she walked away with the 1stPrize of the 7th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians. In 2013, the Turkish music magazine Andanteawarded her the title of the country’s Best Emerging Musician. She performed at the opening concert of the 41stIstanbul Music Festival with the Borusan Symphony Orchestra and participated in the Seiji Ozawa Academy Masterclass and the Verbier Festival in Switzerland.
The recording of her concert with YMWS scholars at the Zurich Tonhalle (Chamber Series), in March 2014, earned her an invitation to perform with the Swiss Chamber Orchestra in Lucerne KKL. She was selected by Orpheum Musik Stiftung Zürich to release a CD series with the Munich Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Howard Griffiths.
She has played with such international orchestras as the Chamber Orchestras of Zürich and Munich, Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester, Musikkollegium Winterthur, Mariinski Theatre Orchestra, Borusan Philarmonic Orchestra, and the Sinfonia Varsovia. In January 2016, she performed in Zurich to promote her first CD for Sony, and recorded John Williams’ music to Schindler’s Listwith the Brandenburgisches Kammerorchester and Howard Griffiths for Klanglogo. Orpheum Stiftung chose her to headline the opening concert of Zürich Film Festival in 2016. 

In 2016, aged 20, she won the 1stPrize at the prestigious International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition. In June 2016, as member of Trio Arte, she was awarded the 1stPrize for chamber music at Pietro Argento International Music Competition (Italy). Trio Arte also performed the world premiere of Ludus Modalis, written for the Trio by the renowned Turkish composer Özkan Manav.
She has been invited to play at numerous festivals, such as Beethoven Easter Festival, Gstaad Menuhin & Festival Academy, Schleswig-Holstein, Musica Mundi, Olympus, with Nicholas Angelich, Maxim Vengerov, Lisa Batiashvili, and Michael Sanderling.

Since 2016, she has been playing a 1756 Giambattista Guadagnini violin, generously provided by the German Foundation of Musical Life.
