Didi Lowka studied bass at the Bass School Munich and at the Anton Bruckner Conservatory, Linz, Austria.
Since 1994, he has been an independent musician, focusing on jazz and world music. He is well known for his lyrical, melodic playing, as well as for his explosive, percussive solos.
He develops new types of acoustic bass, introducing his own original six-string acoustic bass design.
His awards include Echo Jazz in the category Live Act of the Year for 2011 and 2012 with Quadro Nuevo, several German Phono Industry Jazz Award music prizes with Quadro Nuevo, multiple Incentive Awards by the cities of Rosenheim, Burghausen and Krakau. He was also finalist of Hennessy Jazz Search Düsseldorf and the Leverkusen Jazz Festival Competition.
