Im Jahr 2014 wir Marina Fokidis die Funktion der Kuratorin der Ausstellung von Nevin Aladağ im Art Space Pythagorion übernehmen.

Marina Fokidis is a curator and writer based in Athens, Greece. She is the founding and artistic director of Kunsthalle Athena, the first art institution of this sort in Athens which started as an experimental platform and is now taking its permanent form.

Between 2010 and 2014 Kunsthalle Athena has presented several exhibitions, workshops performances and talks, i.e. This Must be the Place, Political Speeches, A Wonderful Life, Summer in the Middle of Winter, among others which were curated by Fokidis and KA team. See www.kunsthalleathena.org.

Since January 2012, she is also the founding director of South As a State of Mind, a bi-annual art and culture publication. See www.southasastateofmind.com.

From 2000 to 2008 she served as the co-director of Oxymoron, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of contemporary visual art in Greece and on an international level.

In 2011, she was one of the curators of the 3rd Thessaloniki Biennial, see www.thessalonikibienniale.gr.

She has been the commissioner and the curator of the Greek Pavilion at the 51st Venice Biennial (2003) and one of the curators of the 1rst Tirana Biennial (2001).

Fokidis has curated several exhibitions in various institution in Greece and internationally including: Open Form, a group show of international artists in the greek art fair Art-Athina (2013), Random Rules, A channel of Artists Selection from Youtube, presented online (ongoing) and screened in Pulse Art Fair, NY New York 2009, Midsummer Nights Dream, a three months screening program part of Remap 2 (parallel program to Athens Biennial 2009), (Her)(His)tories an exhibition of major video works within the last decade, juxtaposed to the historical permanent collections, in the Museum of Cycladic Art, in Athens (2007), Anathena, an exhibition held in DESTE Foundation, based in the Athenian underground scene (2006) and others.

She has written essays for different edited collections, for artists and exhibition catalogues and for several international art magazines and publications like Frieze, Art-Agenda, Artinfo, Flash Art, Art and Australia, Manifesta Journal, Empires Ruins and Networks (book), A Reception of Urban Ecology: Detroit and Beyond (book), Articulating Power and Subversion (book), among others. She has also participated in many conferences and discussions internationally including Arco 2010, Art Basel Conversations 2013, and Global Art Forum, Art Dubai 2014. She has been jury member for various awards, 2013 Furla Award, Bes Revelacâo 2013 - Serralves Museum among others.
